It was a wonderful weekend to be at the woodland garden. The beds were readied for new plantings and a couple of small projects like pantry shelving was completed.
The birds were every wheres and were almost standing in line at the feeders Red Wing Blackbirds, Nut thatchers, Blue jays, Woodpeckers, and my Favorite The Cardinals were making almost continuous stops at the feeders. It was a lot of singing going on.
Some of the early bloomers were starting to color up the beds
This bleeding heart was hit hard by cold weather a couple of week ago and was killed back to the ground what a nice recovery.
It was a great time to sit and plan for the flowers coming next week and to just enjoy the time there. After the first lawn mowing of the season everything looks so green and inviting and the perennials are almost doubled in size from last week. I spend a lot of time on the deck and just look out over the garden. The trees are starting to leaf out and the sunlight has a chance to get in and give everything a great start. It is truly my favorite time of the year at the woodland garden.
This week will be busy at the urban garden as we install the flagstone path and new plantings to cleanup the messy area created by a pedestrian short cut. I will be posting pictures of the project so check back soon.
I hope you got out and enjoyed your gardens this weekend and had a chance to get some recharging done on your batteries. You need to step away and just enjoy the day sometimes. Try it. You won’t believe the difference it makes.
