Finally some good Spring weather this weekend. After a week of dreary, cloudy, wet weather a little warmth and a lot of sunshine. Time to hit the ground running this weekend and get the rest of Spring cleanup done.
With as much time as I have to spare I will be outside all day this weekend getting things ready for the all out craziness May and June will bring. The Backyard Nursery Business will be going into full production,
The perennials in the front beds are going to need moving and some design changes are in the works. I also have to build 2 new mist beds for cuttings.in the production area.
I always look forward to Spring and though it comes with many aches and pains it is always a great time to start over and try out some new idea. As the pain subsides the thought that your responsible for the great garden growing around you makes the pain seem not too much a price to pay.
It is truly amazing that every year that passes brings me more Knowledge and enthusiasm for gardening. What I think is that as I was growing up there was a much different set of circumstances then there is today. Technology was limited to pocket transistor radios and boom boxes oh and least I forget Pong a genius video game.
It saddens me that today’s youngsters are growing up with chrome book instead of text books in the schools. There is something about holding a book in your hand and turning through the pages that may disappear all together in another couple of generations.
Don’t get me wrong I am not anti technology but I am afraid that a great deal of what has made us productive and innovators will soon be displaced by robots and artificial intelligence. Using our hands and building will be a thing of the past.
Well I digress I can tell you that gardening may be a pastime for many but the youth of our nation should be prodded a little to get outside more often and spend some time stopping to smell the roses To see what is out there in the world but a last I think they would much prefer the made up world of fantasy then that of the real world.
Well if you have read this far I want to welcome you to Spring and wish you a successful and good year of gardening. I also hope that you an spend as much time as possible enjoying the new year and the spaces you have created.
