Out Like A Lamb
Out like a lamb. Thats they way that March ended this year at the urban garden. Some rain and warm temperatures almost 60 degrees. We were able to get some spring cleanup done in the morning but the rain started back around noon and we finished they day with some shop cleanup. The rest of the week looks like the weather will be good so we should be able to stay on track with our spring cleaning and prep work.
The flower beds are getting cleaned up. We are putting down weed control and fertilizer as we go so that we should have a lot easier time this summer. Next week I hope to have all the lawns power raked and the spring fertilizer down. I will do spot weed control with a cool weather herbicide as we need to do a lot of over seeding and repairs.
This is such a busy time at the urban garden but it is the time I like best everything is waking up and starting to come back to life especially after it’s long winters nap this year. We are going into our 2nd spring season with the flower beds in the new parking lots so I can’t wait to see how everything has survived. It is certainly a lot more manual labor keeping up with theses beds than when we had large grass areas to mow but the effect is much more dramatic and adds a sense of beauty to the urban garden.
I will be trying to post more often now that there is a lot more interesting things going on besides getting rid of tons of snow. Also I will be adding to the content pages as well in the next month or so. I hope the weather is breaking in your area as well and that you can get out in your gardens this week.
