We have a new project underway at the Urban Garden. One of our outlying building is in need of a landscape renovation which we will be undertaking over the next couple of weeks. As we go along I will post some updates so that you may get a few ideas for your own landscape projects. Landscape design is not always an easy thing when dealing in an urban environment that receives hundreds of visitors a day. The man ingredient to good landscape design in a commercial environment is it’s ability to stand up to heavy traffic and abuse. Another aspect is to be sure that it is user friendly while still being attractive and easy to maintain.
Phase 1
Landscape Design Of Front Entrance

Above is you see the area on the east of the entrance as it exist today. A few scraggly perennials and a nice Viburnum. People use this as a short cut so it will need to be more functional. We will re-utilize the viburnum and the rest will be cleaned out.
This photo is of a bed in front of the main doors it is a hodgepodge of weeds ornamental grass and some perennials mixed in with rose bushes. The plan is to clear out everything but the roses and then turn it into a rose bed. Along with the plantings we will add a border around these beds to help define the space .
Plans also call for the possibility of a flagstone walkway as well.
The next post will show the progress we have made by the end of this week.
