The crazy warm weather here in Chicago has made me itchy to get out and start vegetable gardening. It is only the 2nd of March and I am ready to go. If you are planning to stat your own seeds for your vegetable garden i have a couple of resources that will help you.
The first is a link to the first and last frost dates of major cities across the United States you can find that here
The second resource is a list of indoor seed starting times for vegetables and when to plant them outdoors you can find that here
With Spring arriving in just two weeks and 4 days it is starting to get exciting as I see the tree buds swelling and the spring flowering bulbs starting to poke their heads out of the ground. There is still a while before we can go crazy in the vegetable garden but if the weather remains like it is some of the cool weather salad crops can be planted as soon as the ground can be worked if you provide them with a row cover at night to protect against freezing temperatures.
Better get them lawnmowers tuned up and ready you will be needing them before you know it. One more thing you can get that first fertilizer application down after the middle of March on your lawns. Yes I know seems like I am pushing it a little but believe me time moves pretty quick so you don’t want to wait too long to get started on Spring Garden Work.
